The Florette
one community · two homes · every door unlocked
One Name, Two Homes
a Free Company and a community, above two venues.
The Florette is the name over all of it — a Free Company and a community first, and beneath that name, two homes: a library that tends the mind, and a lounge that tends the warmth around it. Whichever door you come through, you come into the same family.
Daylight & Candlelight
one whole, told in two halves.
The Athenaeum
A sunlit library and salon — the elder home, where pages and petals sing.
Visit the Hall →The Solarium
A glass lounge after dark — the younger home, where petals meet candlelight.
Visit the Room →The Circle
three ways to call this place yours.
Members
Those who have taken the Free Company tag — doors, chest, and buffs are theirs.
Associates
Friends of the Florette in our Discord and around the venues, FC tag or not.
Partners
Kindred venues we keep good company with across the realm.
The Week
when the lights are on.
The Door
all three doors are unlocked.
The Florette is our community. The Athenaeum and the Solarium are our homes. Come find your place in any of them — there is room, and there has always been a door left open for you.

Community Rules
an out-of-character code of conduct, held with care
For FC Members, Associates, and all who call the Florette home.
These rules exist to protect the Florette as a safe, warm, and genuinely welcoming space. They apply to every member — visitor, associate, FC member, and staff alike — across every space where our community gathers. They are not a warning. They are an expectation, and we hold it with care.
Respect & Inclusion
Every person in this community is entitled to be treated with basic dignity. This is the floor, not the ceiling.
- 1.1Treat every member with basic respect and dignity, always — regardless of their character level, RP experience, membership tier, playtime, or how long they have been part of this community.
- 1.2Discrimination in any form is not tolerated. This includes — but is not limited to — racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, ableism, classism, xenophobia, and discrimination based on religion, age, neurodivergence, or body.
- 1.3Harassment is grounds for immediate removal. This includes targeted mockery, unsolicited repeated contact after being asked to stop, intimidation, sustained negative attention, and coordinated behavior designed to make someone feel unwelcome.
- 1.4Slurs and derogatory language have no place here. This applies equally in "joking" contexts — if the language is harmful when meant seriously, it remains harmful when delivered as a joke.
- 1.5The Florette is an explicitly LGBTQ+-inclusive community. Any behavior — whether direct hostility, coded language, or sustained social exclusion — that targets or marginalizes members for their identity is treated as a serious violation.
- 1.6Disagreements happen. Approach them with good faith and respect for the person, even if you disagree with their position. Critique ideas, not people.
- 1.7Be mindful of differences in communication style, language barrier, and cultural context. Not everyone expresses themselves the same way. Assume good intent before assuming offense.
Content & Safety
We are an 18+ community. That means we can engage with mature themes — it does not mean anything goes.
- 2.1All public-facing spaces are strictly SFW. This includes: the estate during events, all public Discord channels, and anything displayed on either Carrd. The Solarium is a warm, intimate venue — it is still SFW in all public contexts.
- 2.2While this is an 18+ community, graphic sexual content, graphic depictions of real-world violence, gore, and deeply disturbing material are not welcome in shared spaces. If designated private channels exist for mature content, they have their own posted rules.
- 2.3Use content warnings when sharing heavy, potentially triggering, or emotionally difficult material — even in appropriate channels. A brief "cw: [topic]" before the message takes two seconds and matters.
- 2.4This is an adults-only community (18+). Do not confirm, encourage, or facilitate the participation of minors. If you become aware that someone under 18 has joined, notify staff immediately and do not share adult content with them in the meantime.
- 2.5When fiction starts to sound real, pause. If a conversation in RP or creative spaces begins to mirror genuine distress — someone's own safety, mental health, or real-world situation — it is always appropriate to step out of character and check in. A simple "Hey, OOC — are you doing okay?" can matter more than you know.
- 2.6Mental health topics should be treated with care and intentionality in all spaces. Do not use serious conditions, self-harm, or crisis scenarios as casual narrative shorthand or for shock effect without meaningful purpose.
If someone in the community expresses genuine distress — in or out of character — the right response is always to reach toward them, not away. You are not their therapist, but you can be a person who notices. Staff are available for guidance on how to handle difficult situations.
Roleplay Conduct
What happens in the narrative is shaped by the people writing it. How we treat each other in the story is part of how we treat each other.
- 3.1IC ≠ OOC. Your character's feelings about another character do not define the relationship between the players behind them. Keep the separation clear and communicate OOC when it starts to blur.
- 3.2Consent is required for any RP involving violence, harm, non-consensual themes, significant character trauma, or deeply personal subject matter. Establish this OOC before the scene begins — not after. The phrase "I didn't know it was going there" is not an acceptable position for the person steering it.
- 3.3Godmodding and power playing are not permitted. You do not control another character's actions, reactions, or outcomes without the explicit permission of that character's player.
- 3.4Respect "no." If a player declines a RP direction — in any way, however gently — that is final. Do not push, reframe the same request, or apply social pressure. A "no" to the scene is not a "no" to the player.
- 3.5Dark and heavy themes are permitted in the community — but they require the OOC awareness and consent of every player involved. If you want to go somewhere difficult in a story, say so clearly before you go there.
- 3.6Do not bleed IC drama into OOC spaces without genuine reason. Character conflicts belong in the story. If a narrative is affecting your real wellbeing, that is a different conversation — one that should happen OOC with staff if needed.
- 3.7During venue events, read the room. If ongoing RP is in progress when you arrive, enter gracefully. Do not derail existing scenes. Ask before inserting yourself into something mid-flow.
- 3.8The safe word for pausing or ending a scene OOC is "Brakes." If anyone types or says it — in the scene, in DMs, in OOC brackets — all fiction stops immediately, no questions, no pressure. Check in with the person first.
Privacy & Trust
We do not share what is shared with us in confidence. This is non-negotiable.
- 4.1Do not share another member's personal information — real name, location, images, workplace, or any other identifying real-world detail — without their explicit, specific permission. This includes information shared in apparent confidence in a private channel.
- 4.2Doxxing — the deliberate sharing of someone's private real-world information without consent — results in immediate and permanent removal, with no appeal, regardless of the intent behind it.
- 4.3Do not screenshot or share private messages or DMs without the consent of everyone involved. This applies whether the message is from another member, a staff member, or leadership.
- 4.4What is shared with staff in confidence stays with staff. Reports, personal disclosures, and concerns brought to leadership are not shared with the broader community unless the situation requires it and doing so is handled carefully.
- 4.5You are not obligated to share personal information with this community. Do not pressure others to disclose real-world details — age beyond the 18+ requirement, location, identity, or anything else they have not offered freely.
- 4.6Respect the separation between player and character. Speculating aloud, repeatedly, about a player's personal life based on their RP content is not appropriate. People create fiction from many places.
Discord & Communication
Our Discord is the heart of the community between sessions. It should feel like a good room to be in.
- 5.1Use channels for their intended purpose. Read channel descriptions and pinned messages. If you are unsure where something belongs, ask in a general channel or check with staff.
- 5.2Do not spam, flood, or post large volumes of content in rapid succession. This includes excessive image posts, repeated messages, and reaction-spamming. It disrupts the community and buries conversations.
- 5.3Do not excessively ping staff for non-urgent matters. Staff ping channels and the correct report processes exist for a reason. Mass-pinging or repeatedly pinging individual staff members will be addressed as conduct.
- 5.4No unsolicited advertising, community recruitment, or self-promotion without staff approval. This includes other FFXIV communities, FCs, services, or external content. If you have something you would like to share, ask staff first.
- 5.5Passive-aggressive behavior is treated the same as direct hostility. Vague-posting clearly about a person or situation, subtweeting within the server, or using "hypothetical" framing to target someone all fall within this rule.
- 5.6English is the primary language of public channels so that staff can moderate effectively and all members can participate. Private conversations can be in any language. Language is never grounds for mockery.
- 5.7When a discussion begins to get heated, it is always appropriate to step away. You do not need to have the last word. No conversation in a Discord server is worth your peace or someone else's.
- 5.8Bot commands and server utilities should be used in their designated channels. Cluttering general conversation with bot output or commands that belong elsewhere will be quietly redirected.
Staff & Moderation
Staff exist to keep this community safe — not to police enjoyment. They are people too, and they deserve the same respect as any member.
- 6.1Treat all staff with the same respect you extend to any community member. A staff role is not a social hierarchy — it is a responsibility. It does not entitle staff to special deference, and it does not entitle anyone to dismiss or demean them.
- 6.2If you disagree with a moderation decision, raise it privately and calmly with leadership. Not in a public channel, not in someone's DMs, not as a general post. Publicly disputing moderation — regardless of your position — is itself a conduct issue.
- 6.3Do not attempt to circumvent, undermine, or coordinate opposition to moderation decisions. If a decision feels genuinely wrong, the appropriate path is a private conversation with the FC owner.
- 6.4Moderation decisions made in good faith by staff are final at that level. Leadership decisions are final. Appeals, where available, are handled privately.
- 6.5If you have a concern about a staff member's conduct, bring it directly to Aurore Laon (Owner) or Saya Sonohara (Director) in a private message — not in shared channels and not to other staff members. Concerns about leadership go to the FC owner privately.
- 6.6Staff are bound by the same rules as every other member. Holding a staff role does not grant special social license within the community. Staff who violate these rules are held to the same — or higher — standard.
Conflict Resolution
Problems are better handled quietly than loudly. Most things can be resolved before they become anything larger.
- 7.1If you have an issue with another member, make a good-faith effort to resolve it privately and directly before escalating to staff — assuming it is safe and comfortable to do so.
- 7.2If direct conversation is not possible, not safe, or has already been attempted without resolution, bring it to a staff member for mediation. Staff will approach all parties with equal care.
- 7.3No public call-outs. Do not post about conflict in shared channels to rally support, apply social pressure, or make someone's behavior the subject of community commentary. This includes vague references, "just asking" framing, and group DMs designed to build a coalition against a member.
- 7.4Good faith is assumed in misunderstandings. People make mistakes. What matters is how they respond. If someone caused harm unintentionally and has acknowledged it, the community is not obligated to hold it against them indefinitely.
- 7.5If you feel unsafe — genuinely unsafe, not simply uncomfortable with disagreement — you do not owe the other party direct contact. Come to staff first. Your comfort and safety in this process matters as much as any resolution.
- 7.6Mediated resolutions are private. Outcomes of moderation and conflict resolution are not shared with the general community. If you become aware of a decision that involves another member, keep it to yourself.
Scope & Accountability
These rules exist wherever the Florette community gathers — not only when staff are watching.
- 8.1These rules apply in: all Florette Discord channels, the in-game estate and housing during any FC-affiliated event, and any public space where a member identifies themselves as part of the Florette. The expectation of conduct does not end when you leave the Discord.
- 8.2What happens outside our official spaces is generally outside our jurisdiction. However, behavior in other communities that directly targets our members, uses our community's identity to cause harm, or represents a credible safety concern may be addressed here.
- 8.3Associate status does not reduce accountability. Associates are members of this community and are held to the same standards as FC members. The lighter commitment does not change the expectations of conduct.
- 8.4Do not bring external drama into the Florette. History with another FC, a disagreement on another server, or a community conflict that has nothing to do with us does not belong in our spaces. Everyone starts here on equal footing.
- 8.5We do not act on rumors, but we do act on documented evidence, credible reports, and patterns of behavior. If you have a concern about someone's conduct, bring it to staff with as much specific information as you can. Staff will take it from there.
Consequences
We believe in proportionate responses. Most situations do not require the heaviest hand — but the heaviest hand is available when it is needed.
- 9.1Consequence decisions are made by staff based on documented evidence and the totality of the situation — not on who is more popular, who has been here longer, or who is louder. We do not guarantee any particular outcome in advance.
- 9.2Context is considered, but it does not override documented harm. Good intentions, personal circumstances, and history with the community are all weighed — none of them nullify what happened.
- 9.3Staff reserve the right to skip lower consequence levels for sufficiently serious violations. The four-level framework is a guide, not a guarantee of escalation.
- 9.4Consequences affecting Associates follow the same framework as those affecting FC Members. Associate status is not a lighter standard of accountability.
- 9.5If you witness a rule violation, report it to staff via the appropriate channel or direct message. Do not attempt to enforce the rules yourself in public. Let staff handle it — that is what they are here for.
Why We Keep These
"These rules exist not because we expect the worst from you, but because we want to be clear about what this space is — and what it is not. The Florette was built on warmth. These rules are how we protect it. They ask nothing of you that you would not already ask of yourself if you stopped to think for a moment. Come in well. Stay well. Let others do the same." — Aurore Laon, Owner · The Florette

Two Homes, One Name
the community keeps two rooms — and the same warmth in both
The Florette is the community. Beneath its name live two venues — each its own evening, both the same family. One tends the mind; the other tends the warmth around it.
Florette Athenaeum & Solarium
Florette Athenaeum
“where pages & petals sing”
A library and salon — shelves, soft chairs, tea, and tarot in candle-soft daylight.
To tend the mind. A place to read, to talk, to have your cards turned, to hear a little music — quiet by design, and never in a hurry.
Sunlit and green: linen, blossom, and sage, with the gentle hush of a conservatory-library where the afternoon is never rushed.
The first home, and the one that set the tone. Aurore built it for the mind — the room the whole Florette grew out of.
Florette Solarium
“where petals meet candlelight”
A glass room lit only by candles — companions, warm drinks, low music, and conversation that asks nothing of you.
To tend the warmth around the mind. The same welcome as the Athenaeum, only after dark — easy company for the hours the library keeps quiet.
Candlelit and intimate: oxblood, aged gold, and clove-warm shadow — a room that asks nothing of you but to stay a while.
Opened because the mind cannot survive on quiet alone. It carried the care the Athenaeum began into the evening, and gave the Florette its second door.
“I built the Athenaeum for the mind. I built this room because the mind cannot survive alone.”
— Aurore Laon
How They Tie Together
one family, holding two rooms.
Both venues belong to The Florette — the Free Company and community that holds them. They share one Discord, one calendar, and one roster of people. Visit one or visit both; the welcome is the same, and the door between them is always open.

Members & Associates
two ways to belong — one family

- Estate access and the Free Company’s buffs and perks.
- A voice and a vote in the Florette’s events, direction, and day-to-day.

- The full community — the Discord, the people, the day-to-day, all of it.
- Every event, gathering, and opening, exactly as a Member would.
- Your name among Our People, marked as an Associate.
